Concentration in Bridge!

One of the characteristics that distinguishes the expert from the merely average player is the ability to concentrate. Do you ever spend a whole Wednesday evening playing without hearing a single reel of Scottish Country Dancing? This means you are either concentrating well or...... very drunk! (or, possibly, playing in a different club).

The legendary Terence Reese was famous for his ability to concentrate. Some friends were able to make a considerable sum from a wager which relied on this ability. They hired a model to parade around Reece's table while he was playing. She was very attractive and...totally naked.

Many pounds were gambled on what Reece's reaction would be.

Believe it or not, he never looked up!
(I'm not sure what distracted him in the picture above!)
