Try this discard system

An alternative to the 'high card encourages" and to "McKenney" is the system known as 'Roman Discards". This is also known as "odd-even" discards.

On your first discard play an odd card to encourage. An even card discourages the suit discarded and can also imply a preference for one of the other suits. Suppose the opposition is playing in spades and your partner leads the ace of trumps of which you have only one. On his second lead a card such as the ten of hearts would discourage hearts and encourage the higher ranking of the two remaining suits, in this case diamonds. A card such as the two of hearts would discourage hearts but encourage clubs.

Try it ......you will be amazed!!!
